This fall, it is our very great pleasure to have
two distinguished speakers joining us for lunch at Rossi's.
On Wednesday, September 27 the Club's esteemed former president Jay D. Miller '82 will talk about healthcare and one of the state's key industries, medical technology, in which he plays an important role as the President and CEO of Vital Images. After graduating from Dartmouth in 1982 with a degree in chemistry, Jay earned a Master of Engineering in biomedical engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern. At GE Medical Systems for almost a decade, Jay then joined Vital Images in 1997. Vital Images produces "advanced visualization and analysis software solutions” (see http://www.vitalimages.com ). The company’s technology gives radiologists, cardiologists, oncologists and other medical specialists time-saving productivity and communications tools that can be accessed throughout the enterprise and via the Web for easy use in the day-to-day practice of medicine." On Wednesday, November 8, former Dartmouth professor of religion and current President of Carleton College Robert Oden will speak to the Club. A native of South Dakota, Oden earned a bachelor's degree magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard College. He attended Cambridge University as a Marshall Scholar, earning a second bachelor's degree and a master's degree before returning to Harvard to complete a master's of theology and a Ph.D. in Near Eastern languages and literatures. From 1972 to 1989, he was a member of the religion faculty at Dartmouth College, and was the recipient of Dartmouth's first Distinguished Teaching Prize. He left to serve as headmaster of The Hotchkiss School, a private secondary school, from 1989 to 1995; and was then appointed president at Kenyon College in Ohio. His tenure at Carleton, where he also holds a faculty appointment in the department of religion, began in 2002. When: Wednesday, September 27, 2006,
